Killarney and the Irish Coastline

Hello again from Killarney! It’s a happening town tonight- there was a huge charity bike race today, and everyone is celebrating surviving the 120 mile ride! Mom and I, on the other hand had a much more relaxing day. J Our group escaped the crowds of bkiers for the relative peace and quiet of the Dingle Peninsula

We stopped briefly in the town of Dingle before and after completing the scenic loop- it’s a cute little fishing town!
The Dingle Peninsula juts out from the western coast of Ireland, and has some beautiful views!
It’s also home to an Iron Age ring fort (not as big as those on the Ring of Kerry) and to beehive huts built during the early Medieval period. It’s hard to imagine living in such little huts in the middle of nowhere!

Of course, seeing these views wasn’t easy- the roads were very narrow!
In case you’re wondering, yes, that is a straight drop and yes, I took that from my seat on the bus! Luckily, our driver is from the area and knew exactly what he was doing. Also, the views were totally worth it!

After lunching at a cute café in Dingle, we headed back to Killarney. We got some laundry done, took a nap, and did some shopping. Mom and I skipped the group dinner and went to an Italian place- thank goodness, as if I had to have yet another meat/potato/veggies meal I might go crazy! J Last but certainly not least, we went to the local movie theater and saw the new Spiderman! I know what you’re thinking, but if was a good movie (go and see it!), and we had fun!
