Castles, Battles, and Whiskey Oh My!

Hello again from the Highlands! We started off yesterday with a beautiful view- a welcome sight after all the rain!
First adventure for the day was going to the Glen Ord Whiskey Factory. While neither Mom nor I are huge whiskey fans, it was very interesting and informative, and we got a free drink out of it!

Next, we stopped for lunch in Inverness. Naturally, I found a bookstore whose inside seemed straight out of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! J We also enjoyed a picnic lunch with a pretty view of the city.

Onward we went to Cawdor Castle, originally build in the 1300s. We enjoyed getting to see the inside of the still occupied castle, and loved the five beautiful gardens!

The final stop for today was the Culloden Battleground, sight of the 18th century battle between Bonnie Prince Charlie and the English. It was strange to think of the quiet field as the place of such a great battle.

One last fun sight on the way back to the hotel: some Highland cows!
