Goodbye Scotland Hello Ireland!

Our last day in Scotland- it seems like we just arrived! This morning, we drove from Glasgow to the western coast of Scotland, where we boarded a ferry for Dublin.
We were sad to say goodbye to beautiful Scotland, but were excited to see what Ireland has to offer, and Belfast did not disappoint! After stopping off at our hotel (which was the staying place for foreign mediators and press during the troubled period in the 1970s and 80s, and was bombed over 30 times during that time period), a local guide named Rosemary joined our group and led us on a bus tour of the city. We started out by seeing the downtown sights involved in the Troubles.
Next, we stopped by the dockyard in which the Titanic was built, and now is home to a brand-new Titanic visitor’s center
We conclude the tour by driving through Loyalist and Irish Republican neighborhoods, and got to see some of the famous political street art, both modern and dating from the Troubles.
Tonight, we had a tasty dinner with our group at the hotel, and now we’re gearing up for tomorrow. In case we don’t get a chance tomorrow, Happy Fourth of July everyone!
